Clinical Predictors of Health Outcomes in Individuals with Subacromial Pain Syndrome Managed with Physical Therapy Interventions: A Prospective Cohort Study

MIRROR will provide onsite research staff to support both ongoing and future research conducted by physical therapists enrolled in the Army-Baylor University Doctoral Fellowship in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy, as well as research led by Fellowship faculty and staff. These personnel will assist the Principal Investigator and study team with coordinating research activities, which may include clinical outcomes collection, participant recruitment, data collection and management, regulatory support, and other assigned tasks. Additionally, they will support report generation and project close-out activities.

The study aims to determine the relationship between within-session change in a provocative shoulder movement following manual therapy treatment and 12-week outcomes in individuals with subacromial pain syndrome (SAPS). The primary aim is to assess the association between within-session change in a provocative shoulder movement and 12-week SPADI scores in individuals undergoing six weeks of standard physical therapy intervention. Secondary aims include exploring which baseline demographic and clinical factors are associated with clinically meaningful improvements in pain, disability, and function over three months, as well as describing the magnitude and pattern of within-session change in a provocative shoulder movement across six weeks of physical therapy treatment sessions.
