Military Tendinopathy Screening Using Ultrasound: A Pilot Investigation of Training Feasibility and Prevalence of at-risk Sonographic Tendon and Fascia Abnormalities

The goal of this project is to determine whether military healthcare providers can be trained to rapidly and reliably use portable ultrasound to identify pre-symptomatic abnormalities of the Achilles tendon, patellar tendon, and plantar fascia in active-duty Service members, while also establishing the prevalence of these abnormalities and examining associated demographic, health, and injury-history factors. The findings will support future injury tracking and targeted prevention strategies intended to reduce duty-limiting tendon and fascia injuries.
